Cyclics Evaluates Potential Sites on East Coast for a Grassroot cPBT Plant
Cyclics Corporation is searching for the best location for its planned grassroot Cyclic Polybutylene Terephthalate (cPBT) plant
Released Thursday, January 20, 2005
Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Cyclics Corporation (Schenectady, New York), a subsidiary of Cyclics Europe GmbH, is searching for the best location for its planned grassroot Cyclic Polybutylene Terephthalate (cPBT) plant. It appears that the United States East coast is the most likely territory, somewhere between the Carolina's and Alabama.
Davy Process Technology Limited (London, England) has been retained to assist in the site selection process and will likely provide some of the initial plant design and technology choices. This new plant is expected to produce approximately 50,000 metric tons per year of cPBT when it is completed and comes online sometime in the summer of 2007. If a site is chosen early this year, construction could conceivably begin in the spring of 2006. Construction cost for this new plant is estimated to exceed $130 million.
Cyclics Europe is already making significant investments in this same product at its site in Germany, see this related Industry Alert titled Cyclics Europe Expands cPBT Capacity in Germany
