PRODUCTION
Fracking: What is at Stake in the 2016 Presidential Election?
- A hot button issue at the best of times, hydraulic fracturing, or "fracking," has been a campaign issue for the 2016 presidential election. However, cutting through the rhetoric, what is at stake? How much spending, specifically in natural gas and natural gas liquids (NGL) pipelines could be affected, positively or negatively, by the election of one candidate or the other?

Chevron says Gorgon LNG export plant still suspended after leak - Production remains suspended at Chevron Corp's $54 billion liquefied natural gas (LNG) Gorgon export facility in Australia following a gas leak nearly two weeks ago, a company spokesman said. After the shutdown on July 1, Chevron initially said production would recommence in the "coming week."

Nexen to Cut 350 Jobs in Canada After Oil-Sands Explosion - Cnooc Limited's Nexen Energy unit will eliminate 350 jobs this year after deciding not to repair its Long Lake oil-sands upgrader in northern Alberta following an explosion in January. The facility, which processes bitumen into light synthetic crude oil, can't be feasibly repaired in the short term, executives said Tuesday.

TERMINALS
Loneliest Natural Gas Terminal in U.S. Bucks Pipeline Trend
- All along the eastern seaboard, a chain of import terminals -- built when the country expected to get its fuel from abroad -- now lie idle. But for reasons that have to do with environmental politics and geology, New England is home to a major exception.

GLOBAL ENERGY
Global energy intensity continues to decline
- According to the EIA, worldwide energy intensity, measured as energy consumption per unit of gross domestic product (GDP), decreased by nearly one-third between 1990 and 2015. Energy intensity has decreased in nearly all regions of the world, with reductions both in the more developed economies of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and in the emerging nations of the non-OECD.
