PIPELINES
Cross-Border Pipelines: Why Others Have Succeeded Where Keystone XL Failed - Where KXL was over a thousand miles long, carried a liquid product and traversed the border with Canada through states that had less pipeline presence, the successful examples above were shorter, carried a gaseous product and traversed the border with Mexico through the most pipeline-friendly state in the U.S., Texas.
OIL PRODUCTION
Depleted crews, idled rigs lie in shale oil's path to revival - Over the next two to three years, if oil recovers, labor shortages are going hit the industry hardest, producers and recruiters say. More than 100,000 U.S. oil and gas extraction and support jobs have been lost since late 2014, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
U.S. regulators propose information sharing on crude-carrying trains - U.S. regulators on Wednesday proposed a rule on trains carrying crude that requires railroads to share information on the shipments with local governments and emergency responders, a month after a fiery derailment of an oil train along Oregon's scenic Columbia River gorge.
GAS PRODUCTION
EIA: Natural gas-fired electricity generation expected to reach record level in 2016 - U.S. natural gas-fired electricity generation is expected to hit a record this year, providing an average of 3.8 million megawatt-hours per day in 2016. Based on EIA's latest Short-Term Energy Outlook, monthly natural gas-fired generation is expected to reach record highs in July and August.
Analyst: U.S. gas glut is disappearing - U.S. natural gas prices have risen by a third since hitting a two-decade low in the first quarter, amid signs supply and demand are rebalancing and excess stocks left over from an unusually warm winter are being worked down.
