Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The environmental impact assessment (EIA) report for Phase I of Datang International Fuzhou Power Generation Company Limited's (Fuzhou, Jiangxi) Fuzhou Power Plant received approval from the Ministry of Environment Protection (MEP) in July 2012, according to an announcement from the MEP.
The Fuzhou Power Plant is located at Zhoujia Village, in Qingni Town of Linchuan District of Fuzhou City, in central China's Jiangxi province. The power plant has a total planned capacity of 4,000 megawatts (MW), of which two 1,000-MW, ultra-supercritical, coal-fired units, together with two 3,033-ton-per-hour pulverized coal-fired boilers, will be built in Phase I. Total investment in the project will be about $1.2 billion, including $106 million for environmental protection.
Early in September 2007, Datang International Power Generation Company Limited (SHA:601991) (Beijing), the listed flagship of China Datang Corporation (Beijing), had signed the framework agreement with the local government for the development of the project. In June 2011, the project received approval from the National Energy Administration to kick off pre-stage preparation. Later, Guodian Environment Protection Research Institute (Nanjing, Jiangsu) was employed to conduct an environmental impact assessment for the project. In November 2011, the EIA called for public participation the first time. In December 2012, the EIA report was drafted and called for public participation the second time. Upon passing the examination of an expert panel, the EIA report was then submitted to the MEP for approval in March 2012.
Presently, the project owner is working together with Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute (Guangzhou, Guangdong), for the survey and engineering of the project. Subject to the final approval of the National Development and Reform Commission, construction of the project is expected to kick off at the end of this year. Upon completion, the project will not only improve the local grid structure, but also will greatly promote the local economic development in Jiangxi.
