Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The first bucket of concrete has been poured for Unit 1 of the Datang International Fuzhou Power Plant's 2,000-megawatt (MW), coal-fired project, according to a February 24 announcement. The action by Tiianjin Electric Power Construction Company (TEPC) (Tianjin) marks the construction kick-off for the first of the project's 1,000-MW, coal-fired units, according to parent company China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing).
Datang International Fuzhou Power Generation Company Limited's plant is located at Pengtian Xiang, in the Linchuan district of Fuzhou City, in central China's Jiangxi province. The project is funded by Datang International Power Generation Company Limited (Beijing) (SH.601991), the listed flagship of China Datang Corporation (Beijing).
The project ultimately calls for four units, each with a 1,000-MW capacity. The initial stage is estimated at $1.2 billion and includes two 1,000-MW, ultra-supercritical, coal-fired steam turbine generators, along with environmental control and support facilities.
Early in November 2012, the contract for the main turbine, generator and boiler (TGB) equipment was awarded to Dongfang Electric Corporation (Chengdu, Sichuan). In May 2013, the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) general contract for the project was awarded to Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute (GEDI) (Guangzhou, Guangdong), a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing). In July 2013, the project was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).
TEPC is serving as the main construction and erection contractor for Unit 1. According to the schedule, both units of the project will begin operations in 2015. Upon completion, the project will help meet the increased power demand in the Jiangxi grid and will help support economic development in Jiangxi.
