Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The feasibility study report for State Grid Xinyuan Holding Company Limited's (Beijing) Anhui Jinzhai Pump-Storage Power Station recently passed an examination from an expert panel organized by China Renewable Energy Engineering Institute, a subsidiary of Power Construction Engineering of China (Beijing), in Hefei, the capital city of central China's Anhui province, on November 15, 2013, according to an announcement from the Development and Reform Commission of Anhui Province on November 19.
Leaders and representatives from more than 30 organizations and departments attended the meeting, including related governmental departments of Jinzhai County, Luan City and the Anhui province; State Grid Anhui Electric Power Company (Hefei, Anhui); Hehai Unversity; Nanjing Water Resources and Hydropower Research Institute; the project owner, State Grid Xinyuan Holding Company Limited (Beijing); and the project designer, HydroChina Huadong Engineering Corporation (Hangzhou, Zhejiang).
During the meeting, the feasibility study report prepared by HydroChina Huadong Engineering Corporation was presented and discussed in specialty groups. The expert panel also visited the proposed project site. Upon careful review of the feasibility study report, the expert panel concluded that it was satisfactory with the requirements, both in scope and depth, and issued their comments.
The Jinzhai Pump-Storage Power Station is located in Zhangchong Town, Jinzhai County of Luan City, which is about 250 kilometers from Hefei. The project mainly comprises the upper reservoir, the lower reservoir, the water passage system and the underground powerhouse, which is to be furnished with four reversible hydraulic turbine generating units, each of 300 megawatts (MW).
Total installed capacity of the project will be 1,200 MW, with an annual power output of 2 billion kilowatt-hours, and the total investment will be about $1.03 billion. Upon completion, the project will be used mainly to take the peak and frequency regulation, emergency backup and blackout startup for the Anhui grid.
