Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Industrial Info is tracking U.S. projects worth more than $7 billion in which construction and facility management company Gilbane Building Company (Providence, Rhode Island) has a hand. Among the largest projects involving Gilbane is Foxconn Technology Group's (Taipei, Taiwan) planned construction of an LCD screen manufacturing complex in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin. The project has been in planning for years, but construction is set to begin later this year. The facility is the first part of a broader project and will include a 1.5 million-square-foot assembly plant, as well as a water plant, energy plant, wastewater treatment plant and chemical and gas plant. Construction is planned to start in the fourth quarter, for completion in the first half of 2021. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Gilbane also is providing construction management services for the replacement of Terminal D at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas. The project involves demolishing the existing 20-year-old terminal and constructing a new 780,000-square-foot one, which will include 15 gates and two piers capable of handling wide-body aircrafts. Construction kicked off earlier this year and is expected to be completed by the end of 2024. The project has an estimated total investment value (TIV) of $1.5 billion. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

In its home state of Rhode Island, Gilbane is at work on the expansion of a submarine components manufacturing plant for General Dynamics Corporation (Falls Church, Virginia), the primary builder of submarines for the U.S. Navy. The project entails constructing a two-building, 1.3 million-square-foot addition, along with supporting equipment and systems to manufacture components for Columbia-Class submarines. Construction on the $800 project kicked off last summer and is expected to be completed by the end of this year. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Gilbane also is at work on several projects in the life sciences sector. Among these is the expansion of a generic injectables production and fill/finish plant for Fresenius SE & Co KGaA (Bad Homburg, Germany) in Melrose Park, Illinois, on the outskirts of Chicago. The project includes constructing four new buildings with a total of 130,000 square feet at the existing manufacturing campus to accommodate development, production, warehousing, and fill and finish of generic injectable drug products. The project, which has an estimated TIV of $250 million, kicked off in late 2017 and is expected to be completed in 2022. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Gilbane also is performing construction management services for Quest Diagnostics Incorporated's (Collegeville, Pennsylvania) construction of a grassroot diagnostic testing laboratory in Clifton, New Jersey. The project, which kicked off earlier this year, includes constructing a two-story, 250,000-square-foot building with equipment to provide diagnostic information services for physicians, healthcare organizations and related entities, along with administrative space a parking garage. The project is expected to wrap up in early 2021. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Gilbane also is providing its services for projects at several colleges and universities. Among these is a laboratories addition at Ohio University's campus in Athens, Ohio. The 80,000-square-foot building will be LEED-Silver certified and will allow for the instruction of chemistry, physics, geology and other related life and earth sciences. BHDP Architecture Incorporated (Columbus, Ohio) is providing architecture and engineering services on the project, which has a TIV of $42.6 million and is expected to be completed late next year. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
