Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Inc.; Houston, Texas). Holnam Incorporated (SWX: CHF) (Dundee, Mi.) announced the recent start-up of their new $200 million 1.9 million ton per year cement plant in Florence, Colo. The plant is currently offline while repairs are being made to structural problems that occurred after start-up and is expected to be back to full operational status in November. The new plant replaces two idled wet process kiln lines, which had been in operation since 1948 and will eventually be demolished.
Holnam is a subsidiary of Holcim Limited (Switzerland), formerly Holderbank. Holcim is the world's second leading producer of cement.
