India's Tamil Nadu Plans 20 GW of Solar by 2030

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO), a state utility company in India's southern state of Tamil Nadu, plans to add 20 gigawatts (GW) of solar energy to its power mix by 2030, to meet the growing demand for electricity and harness the state's huge solar potential.

TANGEDCO also plans to build 10 GW of battery energy-storage systems (BESS) over 10 years. These projects would be developed in phases; the first phase is expected to see 4 GW worth of solar-power plants and 2 GW of BESS facilities.
