Industrial Info is tracking $847 million in Power Industry maintenance projects. These include nuclear, coal- and natural gas-fired generators as well as renewable energy facilities. Thirteen projects that are slated to kick off in the upcoming quarter are for nuclear power facilities.

Located in Ogle County, Illinois, Unit 02 of Exelon Corporation's (NYSE:EXC) (Chicago, Illinois) Byron Nuclear Power Station is expected to undergo a 21-day refueling maintenance outage worth $38 million beginning in October. Chicago Bridge & Iron Company N.V. (NYSE:CBI) (CB&I) (The Hague, Netherlands) and BHI Energy (Weymouth, Massachusetts) are preparing the work on the 1,136-megawatt (MW) unit. Exelon operates four other nuclear plants in Illinois. Two of them, not including Byron, are the beneficiaries of financial support provided by legislation designed to keep them up and running for at least another 10 years. For more information on the Byron project, see Industrial Info's project report. For related information, see December 20, 2016, article - Exelon Wins Financial Aid for Two Uneconomic Nuclear Plants.

The Industrial Manufacturing Industry accounts for $523 million in maintenance activity for the upcoming quarter. About $265 million in maintenance investments are targeted at the automotive industry. This includes a $3 million project at KIA Motors of America Incorporated's (Irvine, California) West Point Automobile Assembly plant in Georgia. The week-long maintenance at the 360,000 vehicle-per-year plant is expected to take place in December. Earlier this month, Hurricane Irma forced a brief shutdown of the plant. In May, the plant celebrated the production of its one millionth Sorento crossover utility vehicle (CUV). For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Pharmaceutical & Biotech Industry maintenance projects have a combined value of $311 million. Fareva Richmond LLC plans to conduct a $25 million maintenance shutdown in December at its semi-solid and aerosol products plant in Richmond, Virginia. The two-month shutdown will include work on a wide variety of equipment. Farevo Richmond is part of Fareva Holding (Tournon-sur, France). For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Other substantial projects include a plant-wide turnaround at Exxon Mobil Corporation's (NYSE:XOM) (Irving, Texas) Baton Rouge, Louisiana, polyolefins plant and a naphtha hydrotreater turnaround at Calumet Specialty Products Partners, L.P.'s (NASDAQ:CLMT) (Indianapolis, Indiana) Shreveport Refinery in Louisiana. See Industrial Info's report on the polyolefins plant turnaround and the refinery hydrotreater turnaround for more information.

And finally, there's Ocean Spray's (Lakeville/Middleborough, Massachusetts) plans for a maintenance shutdown at its cranberry sauce and fruit juice plant in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The work will include inspections and repairs to storage areas, cooking, processing, filling and packaging equipment during the one-to-two-week event in December. Ocean Spray said in August it was phasing out cranberry sauce production in Washington State and consolidating operations in Kenosha, according to The Spokesman-Review. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
