Researched by Industrial Information Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- The King Power Station located in Bayport, Minnesota, shut its 598-megawatt Unit 01 Wednesday, August 22, 2007, due to a heater leak that was discovered an hour after returning online from a week of repairs for boiler leaks. Officials did manage to put 40 MW online before the trip and hope to have the unit back online Friday, August 24, 2007. The coal-fired King Power Station became operational in 1968 and is owned by of Northern States Power Company, a subsidiary of Excel Energy Incorporated (NYSE:XEL ).
