Massive Panoche Valley Solar Project Begins Construction in California

The 247-megawatt (MW) Panoche Valley Solar Project is located in San Benito County, California. The project is owned by Panoche Valley Solar LLC (Menlo Park, California).

The project will be built by AMEC Foster Wheeler plc (NYSE:AMFW) (London, England) on 2,500 acres of private land. It will utilize as many as 4 million photovoltaic solar panels to generate enough electricity to power 70,000 homes. It is located next to existing power lines.

The project has a total investment value of $650 million and will create about 500 onsite construction jobs. Completion is expected by fourth-quarter 2017.
