Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Oncor Electric Delivery Company (Dallas, Texas) and Brazos Electric Power Cooperative (Waco, Texas) plan to build a 22-mile power transmission project in central Texas at a cost of $32 million. The proposed project would reach completion in 2020.
The 138-kilovolt (kV) Cogdell-Clairemont Transmission Line Project would connect Oncor's existing Cogdell substation in Scurry County and Brazos Electric's Claremont substation in Kent County.
The project includes substation upgrades as well as the construction of the transmission line. Project construction is expected to start in mid-2019, with completion in mid-2020.
The project developers said in a community presentation last summer that assessment of the existing 138-kV facilities serving Kent and Scurry counties has identified the need for improvements in the region. The proposed Cogdell-Clairemont line would strengthen the transmission system in order to improve reliability to existing customers, as well as allow for planned outages for system maintenance and other activities, the developers said.
Oncor serves nearly 10 million customers across Texas, and maintains the largest distribution and transmission system in the state. Brazos Electric is the largest generation and transmission cooperative in the state.
