Overhaul Planned at Indian Oil Corporation's Guwahati Refinery

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Indian Oil Corporation Limited (BSE:530965) (IOCL) (New Delhi) has scheduled a maintenance overhaul in October 2009 at the company's 20,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Guwahati Refinery, located in Noonmati near the city of Guwahati.

The Guwahati Refinery is one of the 10 refineries that IOCL owns and operates in India. The company has a combined refining capacity of 1,210,000 BBL/d.

The future planned turnaround, which will entail mainly cleaning and inspection work, will be carried out on the facility's 12 operational units, which are divided into six blocks. The overhaul will start in October of this year and will last approximately 20 non-production days.

General maintenance overhauls at the the refinery are performed every three years. Consequently, after the October overhaul, authorities expect to keep most units online until the next overhaul, planned for the fourth quarter of 2012. The bidding process generally starts one year before maintenance work is set to begin.
