Pavestone Plans $90 Million in New Plant Construction

Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). It's good to hear success stories in today's tough economic environment, and Pavestone Company (Dallas, Texas) has proved consistent growth year after year. Pavestone has paved its way through 22 years of growth with no end in sight for the concrete paving stone manufacturer. Riding on consumer demand for residential yard solutions in the form of concrete pavers, which are attractive and easy to assemble, the company has witnessed significant market share growth in 40 states and is positioning itself to cover the entire U.S. market.

The company began manufacturing concrete paving stones and retaining wall systems in Dallas, Texas in 1980. Since that time, through a series of new plant construction, acquisition of existing producers, technology advances, and expansion of existing plants, Pavestone has become a leader in the industry with 17 manufacturing plants. The company's most recent acquisition is Interlock Concrete Pavers located in Katy, Texas.

In the last three years, the company has constructed eight grassroot plants, and has a strong presence from Boston, Massachusetts to Winters, California. Pavestone is looking to expand in the Rocky Mountains, Southeast, West Coast, and East Coast.

In the next three years, the company is looking at constructing nine additional grassroot concrete paving stone manufacturing plants, starting with two in the Rocky Mountain region next year. Plans are under way to construct plants in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Colorado Springs, Colorado in 2003.

Total cost for a typical Pavestone plant including land and equipment is typically in the $10 million range. The plants typically produce 20 million square feet a year of concrete pavers and employ anywhere from 50 to 100 people.

Each plant is fully automated to ensure production efficiency, from the raw material storage and delivery systems to the finished product pallet storage and handling system.
