Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The examination meeting for the preliminary feasibility study of Guodian Hami Dananhu's 2,000-megawatt (MW) coal power project was organized by Northwest Power Grid Company Limited (Xi'an, Shaanxi), a regional subsidiary of State Grid Corporation of China (Beijing), in Urumqi, the capital city of China's Xinjiang autonomous region, on April 29, 2011.
During the meeting, the panel heard a presentation on the study prepared by Xinjiang Electric Power Design Institute (Urumqi, Xinjiang). The study was discussed and reviewed by the panel, which concluded that it was satisfactory with the specifications for coal-fired power plants, both in the scope of content and depth. The study will serve as the instructive document for the project development, according to the panel.
The proposed project is in Hami, a city rich in coal resources and an ideal place for the construction of a large-scale pithead power plant. According to the planning, the project will be furnished with two 1,000-MW, ultra-supercritical, air-cooling, coal-fired units, with flue gas desulfuration and denitration devices in the current stage and space reserved for future expansion. The pithead power plant is close to the industrial field of an adjacent coal mine. Coal produced from the coal mine will be directly conveyed to the power plant via belt conveyors, to achieve a conversion of resources. By shifting traditional coal transportation into power transmission, the project is not only satisfactory with the nation's energy policy, but also an energy conservation and environmental project encouraged by the state.
Moreover, as the first batch of 1,000-MW units in the Xinjiang grid, construction of the project has important meaning in promoting a power industry upgrade, as well as in promoting the local economic development in Xinjiang.
About 60 experts and representatives from the related departments of Hami City, Xinjiang autonomous region, Xinjiang Electric Power Company (Urumqi, Xinjiang), Xukuang Group Hami Energy Company Limited (Hami, Xinjiang), Guodian Northwest Branch (Xi'an, Shaanxi) and Guodian Xinjiang Power Company Limited (Urumqi, Xinjiang) attended the meeting, Guodian Xinjiang announced on May 3, 2011.
