Researched by Industrial Info Resources Australia (Perth, Australia)--Queensland has 549 projects worth $236.36 billion, which makes it Australia's top state for project investments. Earlier this year, the Queensland government released its data tables for overseas exports of goods from the state, as well as from all of Australia, for the 2013-14 financial year.

Coal makes up $19.3 billion of the state's exports, which is nearly half of Australia's coal exports. Other commodity exports by Queensland are almost non-existent, with the exception of $46.3 million in iron and steel exports.
Queensland's 274 metals and minerals projects have a combined value of $93.06 billion. The projects show a strong potential for growth by the state's mining sector, which will depend mostly on global coal prices.
Similarly to Western Australia, the rise of oil and natural gas production in Queensland looks promising for the state's economy. Data sets show Queensland only accounted for 1.5% of the country's total petroleum exports, and as little as 0.2% of natural gas exports--a mere $194 million and $31 million, respectively. These figures are likely to change dramatically during the next few years, as the state aims to complete $118.56 billion worth of oil and gas production projects, which would allow it to compete with Western Australia in the rising industrial frontier.
More than $4.94 billion in planned oil and gas pipelines are on target for completion to meet transportation requirements.
The Industrial Manufacturing Industry is Queensland's third-most valuable, with $10 billion in planned projects. The Power Industry follows with $6.41 billion in projects that are on schedule for completion.
Industrial Info is tracking more than 211 Queensland projects worth more than $51.28 billion that are in the construction phase; 28 projects worth $3.57 billion that are in the engineering phase; and 310 projects worth US$181.51 billion that are in the planning phase. Not all of the projects in the planning stage are likely to reach completion.
The largest projects coming out of Queensland are part of the rising Oil and Gas Industry. With an investment value of nearly $13.36 billion each, Australia Pacific LNG Pty Limited's (Brisbane, Australia) Phase III Production Plant Expansion and Arrow Energy Pty Limited's (ASX:AOE) (Brisbane, Australia) Bowen Natural Gas Upstream Facilities Development Project top the list.
QGC Pty Limited's (Brisbane, Australia) Curtis liquefied natural gas production plant trains IV and V are also scheduled for kickoff in 2017 at a cost of $8.91 billion. QGC is part of the BG Group (Reading, England).
For the Metals and Minerals Industry, East West Line Parks Pty Limited's (Brisbane, Australia) 3,300-kilometer railway additions are valued at $7.04 billion.
