Seaboard Foods, a division of Seaboard Corporation (NYSE:SEB) (Shawnee Mission, Kansas), an integrated food producer of premium pork products, previously announced plans for a new further processing plant in Oklahoma, which is now scheduled for construction at the tail end of 2007. The new plant, representing a $40 million capital investment, will be an addition to the companys pork production plant in Guymon and is being planned primarily for bacon and sausage processing. Seaboard Foods has targeted the start of construction for the fourth quarter of 2007, with completion slated for the end of 2008.
Seaboards current operation in Guymon is a state-of-the-art processing facility that came online in 1995. Today, the plant employs 2,000 production workers, receives 100 inbound trucks per day delivering live animals and 80 outbound trucks per day delivering fresh pork products and has the ability to process 16,000 hogs per day.
