Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--China Guangdong Nuclear Taishan Chuandao Wind Power Company Limited's (Taishan, Guangdong) Fenshuiling windfarm in Shangchuan Island received final approval from the Development and Reform Commission of Guangdong province on May 10, 2011, China Guangdong Nuclear Power Corporation (CGNPC) (Shenzhen) announced on May 16, 2011.
The Fenshuiling windfarm, located on Shangchuan Island, in Chuandao Town of Taishan City in South China's Guangdong Province, is the Phase III expansion of the Shangchuandao windfarm, which aims to take full utilization of the wind energy resources of Shangchuan Island. The project is to be built and operated by China Guangdong Nuclear Taishan Chuandao Wind Power, a subsidiary of China Guangdong Nuclear Wind Power Company Limited (Beijing), the professional subsidiary of CGNPC for wind power development.
According to the approval, 35 wind turbines, each with generating capacities of 850 kilowatts, representing a total installed capacity of 29.75 megawatts will be built in addition to the existing 100 wind turbines built in Phase I and Phase II. Upon completion, the project is expected to provide about 60 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy to the local grid of Taishan City via the seabed cable already in operation, which could eliminate the consumption of more than 20,000 metric tons of standard coal every year.
Prior to the final approval of the project, the project owner China Guangdong Nuclear Taishan Chuandao Wind Power had awarded the survey, design and engineering to Pearl River Planning, Survey and Design Company Limited (Guangzhou, Guangdong) through public bidding in April 2011. Presently, the China Guangdong Nuclear Taishan Chuandao Wind Power is performing procurement for major equipment, namely the wind turbine generating sets and towers, via its tendering agent, CITIC International Tendering Company Limited (Beijing).
According to the schedule, the project will begin construction in July this year and begin operation in the end of 2012.
