Shell Chemicals Awards 80MW Cogeneration Project to Air Liquide in Geismar, Louisiana

Shell Chemicals Limited (Houston, Texas), a holding of the of Royal Dutch/Shell Group (NYSE: RD) (The Hague, The Netherlands) has awarded Air Liquide America Corporation (Houston, Texas) the Design, Build and Operate contract for the construction of two cogeneration units totaling 80 mega-watts (MW) of electrical generation. Construction started earlier this summer and when completed in the second quarter of 2002, the units will provide power and 6,000 pounds of steam per hour to Shell's Geismar, Louisiana petrochemical complex. Air Liquide awarded Lockwood Greene Engineering and Construction Company (Baton Rouge, Louisiana) the construction management contract for the $50 million project.
