Site Preparation Under Way at McLane New Distribution Center in Republic, Missouri

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Supply chain services firm McLane Company Incorporated (Temple, Texas), a wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Incorporated (NYSE:BRK-A) (Omaha, Nebraska), has begun the groundwork and site preparation for a grocery distribution center on a 132-acre site off of road 160 in Republic, Missouri. When fully operational, the new center is expected to create 300 to 400 jobs and would serve grocery stores, restaurants and convenience stores in Missouri and surrounding states.

The project involves the construction of 400,000-square-foot building with refrigerated and dry storages for grocery products distribution. McLane Company retained Construction Management Technology Incorporated (Addison, Texas) to provide design-build services. McLane expects to complete the excavation being performed by Tom Boyce Excavating Incorporated (Branson, Missouri), as well as site preparation, and proceed with structural steel erection in the early spring. Overall project completion is expected for the spring of 2011. Total cost of the project, including land acquisition, is evaluated at $60 million.
