Alabama Power to Expand Natural Gas Footprint - Alabama regulators have approved Southern Company (NYSE:SO) subsidiary Alabama Power's $1.1 billion natural gas expansion plan to boost system reliability. The approval to expand electricity production by 2 gigawatts by expanding natural gas use came from the Alabama Public Service Commission. Alabama Power has said it wants to expand its total power production by 19% to prevent winter outages. (Kallanish Energy)

U.S. Rig Count Hits Record Low for Sixth Week - The U.S. oil and gas rig count fell by five to an all-time low of 279 in the week ending June 12, marking the sixth consecutive week of a record-low count. (Reuters)

EQM Pushes Back Completion Date of Mountain Valley Natural Gas Pipeline - EQM Midstream Partners LP (NYSE:EQM) delayed the expected completion of its Mountain Valley natural gas pipeline from West Virginia to Virginia to early 2021 and said it could boost the $5.4 billion project's cost by 5% to around $5.7 billion. When EQM started construction in February 2018, it estimated Mountain Valley would cost about $3.5 billion and be completed by the end of 2018. (Projects 300183147, 300393622) (Reuters)
