Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Petronor (Bilbao, Spain), a subsidiary of Repsol YPF SA (NYSE:REP) (Madrid, Spain), successfully completed planned maintenance repairs at the 240,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Bilbao Refinery in Spain.
The shutdown took place in Plant 3 of the refinery, also known as the Conversion Area. The 43,000-BBL/d fluid catalytic cracking unit, 33,000-BBL/d visbreaker, 89,000-BBL/d vacuum unit, and other units were shut down January 24. The start-up process began March 22, and expectations were to resume normal operations by the weekend.
Separately, the 140,000-BBL/d Crude 1 unit, the 14,000-BBL/d Platformer 1 and several other processing units located in Plant 1 were shut down for maintenance work for approximately 3 weeks on January 13.
While Plant 1 is online and Plant 3 has been restarted, no decisions have been made regarding the restarting of the 100,000-BBL/d Crude 2 unit, the 14,000-BBL/d Platformer 2 and other processing units located in Plant 2, which was shut down for economic reasons in September 2009.
