Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--A planned, $30 million liquefied natural gas (LNG) production train project in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, has been cancelled. Unit 2 of the Prudhoe Bay LNG Liquefaction Plant would have been capable of liquefying up to 100,000 gallons per day of natural gas.
The planned unit would have doubled the plant's existing liquefaction capacity. The project was being developed by Spectrum LNG (Tulsa, Oklahoma), and it had been scheduled to kick off in mid-2015.
Prior to cancellation, Spectrum had been performing preliminary design work with Quanta Pipeline Services (Tulsa, Oklahoma). The developer had planned to select an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) firm by early 2015. Construction was scheduled to begin by mid-2015, and the new train was scheduled to be operating by early 2017.
