Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Tianjin Electric Power Construction Company Limited (TEPC) (Tianjin), a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing), completed the rotor erection for Unit 1 of Datang Hutubi Energy Development Company Limited's (Hutubi, Xinjiang) 600-megawatt (MW) Thermal Hutubi Power Plant Project on May 14, 2013. This will allow for the steam turbine box-up of the unit in the next stage, according to an announcement from the CEEC on May 15.
The 12.5-meter-long, 58-metric-ton generator rotor is one of the largest and heaviest pieces in the power plant. Based on careful preparations, the erection of the rotor took only a little more than an hour to complete.
The Hutubi Thermal Power Plant, located in Wugongtai Town, Hutubi County in the Changji prefecture, in northwest China's Xinjiang autonomous region, is invested by Datang Xinjiang Energy Development Company Limited (Urumqi, Xinjiang), a regional subsidiary of China Datang Corporation.
It is the first power plant invested by Datang Xinjiang, and it is the first plant built by China Datang Corporation (Beijing) with the adoption of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) general contracting. It also is the first 300-MW, coal-fired unit adopted with glass fiber-reinforced plastics for the inner canister of the chimney.
In November 2011, the project received approval from the National Development and Reform Commission. The EPC general contract was awarded to the consortium formed by China Datang Technologies & Engineering Company Limited (Beijing) and Xinjiang Electric Power Design Institute (Urumqi, Xinjiang). Construction of the project kicked off at the end of 2011. According to the schedule, both units of the project will be put into operation by the end of 2013.
