Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Over the next few weeks, employees will begin filling the newly constructed Child Health Institute in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The $72 million building is part of the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). The Institute was developed by UMDNJ in partnership with the New Brunswick Development Corporation (DevCo).
The building features three floors of research labs and a transgenic vivarium. The biomedical research lab modules are flexible and are served by a linear equipment room, designed for shared equipment. The open concept of the laboratories allows researchers to easily circulate among the labs and each other.
As first reported in 2002 in Industrialinfo.coms Pharmaceutical Tracker - Online Database, Jingoli Construction (Trenton, New Jersey) served as the projects construction manager. In addition to special procedure rooms, temperature spaces, and a darkroom, the Institute also has its own administrative and conference spaces. A pediatric ambulatory care center and clinical research center are also located within the new building. The cost of the building and its programs has been funded by a variety of sources, including the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ)(New Brunswick, New Jersey), the federal and state governments, and individual donors.
