The second (No. 2) unit of Guodian Longshan Phase I Project was synchronized to the grid successfully in North China’s Hebei Province on July 13, 2007. On July 1, 2007, various tests for the No. 2 unit prior to the synchronization were completed, and the unit is ready to be synchronized to the grid once the transmission line is ready. The 500-kilovolt (KV) transmission line was energized on July 13, 2007. The boiler was ignited on the same day, and the unit was successfully synchronized to the grid on July 13, 2007, upon the completion of a simulated synchronization. Then, the unit was loaded to 600 megawatts (MW) of rated capacity on July 14, 2007, and completed the 50% and 100% load rejection tests on July 15, 2007. Following the shutdown of combustion supporting oil, the flue gas desulfurization scrubber was put into operation together with the main unit. Guodian Longshan Power Plant is an important project of the state and is located in Shexian County in Hebei Province, with a total planned installation capacity of 2,400 megawatts. Two 600 MW air-cooled coal-fired units were planned for the Phase I Project, with a total investment of $650 million. The project is jointly invested by China Guodian Corporation (Beijing, China) (60%) and Hebei Provincial Construction Investment Corporation (Hebei, China) (40%). The first unit was put into official operation on January 23, 2007. The completion of the project will have active function on alleviating the power shortage in the south grid and on promoting the social and economic development in Henan province.
