Vestas to Supply Second SaskPower Windfarm with Wind Turbine/Generator Sets

Vestas American Wind Technology Incorporated (Portland Oregon), the United States regional office for Vestas Wind Systems A/S (Ringkobing, Denmark) has received an order to supply, install and maintain their (83) V80 1.8-megawatt (MW) wind turbine/generator sets for SaskPower's (Regina, Saskatchewan) new 150 MW Rush Lake Creek Windfarm. The windfarm is currently under construction near Swift Current, Saskatchewan. The first order was for (16) .66 MW (660 kW) V47 units in two phases, nine turbines in 2002 and seven turbines in 2003, at SaskPower’s Cypress Creek Windfarm near Gull Lake, Saskatchewan.

Cypress Creek Windfarm with sixteen units only had 11 MW, Rushlake Creek Windfarm will have comparable power with just the first six wind turbine/generator sets and additional (77) will produce 139 MW. Construction commenced in October, 2004. Depending on weather conditions, foundations and pilings will be set this spring, with units erected and to come online during the third quarter through the end of 2005, bringing wind turbine/generator sets supplied by Vestas to (100) with total capacity of 161 MW.
