Vietnam's $2 Billion Son My II LNG Project Wins Approval

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade approved a public-private partnership plan for the Son My II LNG Power Plant, which is in the Ham Tan district of Vietnam's Binh Thuan province. The total planned capacity is about 2,250 megawatts (MW), comprising three units with capacities of about 750 MW each.

The Electricity and Renewable Energy Authority (EREA) will guide proponent investor AES Power Group (NYSE:AES) (Arlington, Virginia) through preparation, in compliance with regulations.

The main objectives of the project are to meet electricity demand, ensure the development of power sources, attract foreign investment, and bolster the socio-economic development of the Binh Thuan province.
