Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas). Williams Companies Incorporated (NYSE:WMB) (Tulsa, Oklahoma) has awarded Linde BOC Process Plants LLC (Tulsa, Oklahoma) the engineering, procurement and construction contract (E+P+C) for its planned Willow Creek natural gas liquids (NGL) production plant. The Willow Creek plant will be located just south of Meeker, Colorado and will cost an estimated $350 million to construct. The plant will be designed to process a 450 million cubic foot per day (mmcfd) stream of natural gas and extract between 20,000 30,000 BBL per day of NGL.
The Willow Creek plant will utilize a cryogenic process to extract the higher value liquids including ethane, propane, butane and natural gasoline. In support of the new cryogenic plant, Williams will install three new 19,000 horsepower Solar Titan turbine compressor packages and one Solar Mars turbine package to supply the compression needs.
Williams existing processing plants in the Piceance Basin can process 600 mmcfd of natural gas and can recover and produce approximately 4,500 BBL/d of NGL. The existing plants primary design is to condition natural gas to meet pipeline quality specifications. The new Willow Creek processing plant will allow Williams to produce more of the higher value liquids in addition to the natural gas it already processes for pipeline transport.
Williams expects to begin construction on the Willow Creek processing plant in early 2008 and plans to have the new facility in-service by late 2009.
