Jidong Cement's Clinker Line Gains Environmental Clearance

Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The environmental impact assessment (EIA) report for Jidong Cement Heilongjiang Company Limited's (Harbin, Heilongjiang) 7,200-ton-per-day clinker and cement manufacturing line was submitted to and accepted by the Ministry of Environment Protection (MEP) on March 16. The project also includes a waste-heat power plant.

The proposed project is located at the south side of the former Harbin Quanxing Cement Company Limited in Yuquan town of the Acheng district of Harbin, the capital city of the Heilongjiang province. The project includes the raw material exploitation, crushing, and conveyance devices that produce 3 million metric tons of raw materials per year; a complete 7,200-ton-per-day clinker line, as well as auxiliary production facilities capable of producing 2.234 million tons of cement clinker and 3.19 million tons of cement per year, including 1.59 million tons of PO32.5 and 1.59 million tons of PO 42.5 cement. The associated 12-megawatt (MW) waste-heat recovery power plant will be capable of generating 84.36 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year. Total investment in the project will be $216 million, including $12 million for environment protection.

As a wholly owned subsidiary of Tangshan Jidong Cement Company Limited (SZ:000401) (Tangshan, Hebei), Jidong Cement Heilongjiang Company was established to acquire the former Harbin Quanxing Cement Company in 2011. According to the schedule, the clinker and cement manufacture line will kick off construction later this year and begin operation in 2013. Upon completion of the project, the existing cement production line built by the former Harbin Quanxing Cement Company will be closed.

Tangshan Jidong Cement is one of the leading cement manufacturers in China with a current production capacity of about 100 million metric tons per year.
