AEP Completes Construction of $85 Million Expansion Project of Riverside Power Station

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--AEP-Public Service Company of Oklahoma (Tulsa, Oklahoma), a subsidiary of American Electric Power Company (NYSE:AEP) (Columbus, Ohio), has completed construction and start-up testing of its $85 million, 170-megawatt (MW) expansion project at the Riverside Power Station in Jenks, Oklahoma.

Construction began in June with full commercial operation scheduled to commence by the end of December. Riverside marks AEP's second expansion project to be spearheaded this year by Wood Group Power Solutions (Tulsa). The project consisted of installing two 85-MW dual-fuel GE Power Systems MS7001EA combustion turbine generators equipped with dry low NOx burners to reduce NOx emissions. The new units will operate in a simple-cycle peaking capacity generating a total of 170 MW of much needed power for AEP customers.

Wood Group Power Solutions, a subsidiary of Wood Group, (Houston, Texas), provided the turnkey engineering, procurement and construction services for the project. Wood Group will also be responsible for the operations and maintenance services for the project.
