Ahresty Corporation to Build First Plant in China

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Early in July, Ahresty Corporation (TYO:5852) (Tokyo, Japan) signed an agreement with the administrative committee of the Anhui province's National Hefei Economic Technological Development Area to develop Ahresty's first aluminum die-casting plant, in order to meet the growing demand for automobiles in China. The plant, the name of which has yet to be decided, will be in Heifei's Economic and Technological Development Zone, approximately 1,300 kilometers south of Beijing, in Anhui province.

Ahresty, which is the second-largest die-casting corporation in Japan, focuses on the production of die-cast aluminum, secondary aluminum ingots, garden tools, and equipment related to die-casting. Ahresty's manufacturing facility in Wilmington, Ohio, provides aluminum automobile parts for names such as Ford, Nissan Mexicana, and Honda of America, among others. Following approval, Ahresty formed Anhui Ahresty Corporation (Heifei, China) to oversee production activities of the new manufacturing facility.

Ahresty Techno Service Corporation (Tokyo), a subsidiary of Ahresty, plans to begin construction of the Heifei facility in January of next year, with a completion target set for June. When completed, the $22 million Heifei facility is anticipated to produce more than 4,000 metric tons of aluminum products per year. These products include automobile engines and transmission parts that are to be sold to Chinese auto makers. Anhui Ahresty is anticipating $23 million in sales related to products produced at the Heifei facility. A second phase is rumored to begin sometime soon after, and when completed, the plant's production will be boosted to more than 10,000 metric tons per year.
