Australia, India Trade Agreement to Benefit Australian Wine Industry

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The Australian government and India have signed an interim agreement, named the Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (AI-ECTA), which will cut down tariffs of certain Australian goods exported to India, including wine. Tariffs for bottles valued at more than US$15 would be reduced from 150% to 25% over a period of 10 years.

"This agreement opens a big door into the world's fastest growing major economy for Australian farmers, manufacturers, producers and so many more," Australia Prime Minister Scott Morrison said in an April 2 press release announcing the deal. The goal is to make India a top-three destination for Australian exports by 2035.
