Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Auto parts manufacturer Plansee Mitsubishi Materials Global Sinter Holding S.A. (PMG Holding) (Mamer, Luxembourg) announced that it is consolidating its subsidiaries: PMG Ohio Corporation (Dayton, Ohio) and PMG Indiana Corporation (Columbus, Indiana). PMG will close and relocate its Dayton production and research and development operations to its Columbus plant, where it manufactures parts for GM, Ford, Toyota, Honda and Aisin.

Production at the Dayton plant will shut down by December 2007. The majority of the 95,000-square-foot plant's machinery, including presses, casting machine, furnace and robotic equipment, will be dismantled and relocated to Columbus.

PMG Indiana, a powder metal supplier, plans to build a 6,500-square-foot building next to the existing 140,000-square-foot facility to accommodate the relocated and newly purchased production equipment. The project will create 70 jobs at this site, where it currently has an employment count of 250. With a total investment of more than $11 million, the transformation process will be completed sometime in the spring of 2009.

Specialty Metals Processing Incorporated (Akron, Ohio), a metal toll processor, is also consolidating its operations. But unlike PMG, the company will stay in Ohio. The company is investing $3 million to relocate its headquarters and operations to Akron and is scheduled to shut down by January 2008 to its Stow site. Specialty Metals is in the process of renovating a 170,000-square-foot building to store the relocated and newly purchased equipment. The company is also looking at expanding the facility another 90,000 square feet to install a 96-inch cut-to-length line after completing the consolidation process in the fall of 2008.
