SL Alabama plans to expand the existing 150,000-square-foot building by constructing a 75,000-square-foot expansion, with the installation of machinery and production equipment, which will enable the company to increase plant capacity by 35%. Construction is anticipated to begin in August of this year, with completion slated for the spring of 2011. Approximately 200 jobs will be created.

SL Alabama, founded in 2003, is a division of SL America Corporation (Clinton, Tennessee), formerly Samlip America Incorporated. They are a General Motors-approved automotive parts supplier for Cadillac, Hyundai, Chrysler, Saturn, Chevrolet and Subaru. SL Alabama is SL America's second U.S. production facility that produces transmission shift levers and lighting for the automotive industry. Dunn Building Company LLC constructed the original SL Alabama LLC Plant.
