Researched by Industrial Info Resources India (Delhi, India)--India's state-owned oil marketing company, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) (BSE: 500547) (Mumbai), has awarded a contract to NRP Projects Limited (Chennai) for the construction of its proposed Jaipur Terminal in Rajasthan. BPCL intends to build the grassroot terminal for the storage and distribution of refined petroleum products in the state.
The total storage capacity of the terminal is 577,279 barrels for various refined products. The project involves construction of 12 storage tanks. The terminal includes construction of high speed diesel (HSD) and superior kerosene-oil storage tanks, above ground as well as underground storage tanks.
NRP Projects Limited is likely to start the construction of the petroleum product storage terminal in June 2014 and the terminal is expected to be completed by the mid of 2016. The total investment involved in establishment of the petroleum product storage terminal has been estimated at $30 million.
Another leading oil marketing company, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (BSE:530965) (IOCL) (New Delhi), is constructing a storage terminal in the Mohanpura area near Jaipur, with a storage capacity of 562,500 barrels (97,000 kiloliters). State-run Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) (BSE:500104) (Mumbai) already owns a storage terminal in Jaipur. The upcoming storage terminals are expected to help bridging the demand and supply gap of petroleum products in the state of Rajasthan.
BPCL is one of the largest oil-marketing companies in India. The company currently owns four refineries-- in Mumbai, Kochi in the state of Kerela, Numaligarh in Assam and Bina in Madhya Pradesh. The company processes about 12 million tons of crude oil per annum.
For expanding its exploration business, BPCL has promoted Bharat PetroResources Limited (BPRL), as a wholly owned subsidiary of the company. Bharat PetroResources has operations in India, Brazil, Australia, Mozambique and Indonesia. BPCL has 49 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) bottling plants, 12 installation terminals and 115 refined products terminal across India.
