CRUDE OIL
U.S. Crude Oil Exports Rise to 1.5-Year High - Exports of U.S. crude oil climbed to the highest level in more than a year and a half in September, ship tracking data showed, as U.S. refineries began seasonal maintenance and Asian demand increased. U.S. crude exports rose to an average of 4.2 million barrels per day (BBL/d) in September, the highest since February 2024, according to data from ship tracking firm Kpler. Exports had eased in July to their lowest levels in nearly four years on low domestic supplies and as Asian and European buyers found cheaper alternatives. Exports to South Korea climbed to 690,000 BBL/d in September, the highest on record. Exports to Australia rose to around 79,000 BBL/d, their highest since March 2024, while those to Europe eased 11% to 1.7 million BBL/d in September from August. Indian refiners also bought more cargoes of U.S. crude oil. (Reuters)
LNG
Mozambique Says Conditions Set for TotalEnergies to Resume LNG Project - Mozambique President Daniel Chapo said on Thursday that the conditions have been met for French energy company TotalEnergies (Courbevoie) to lift force majeure on its $20 billion liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in the Southern African country. TotalEnergies halted work on its Mozambique LNG project in 2021 after an Islamist militant attack. It forecasts the 13 million-metric ton-per-year project will come online in 2029, around five years later than initially expected. Demand for LNG to Fuel Ships Set to Double by 2030 Globally - Demand for LNG as a marine fuel will at least double by 2030 as abundant supply and rising emissions regulations spur orders for ships that can run on it, industry executives said. LNG is pulling ahead of other fuels in decarbonizing shipping, which accounts for nearly 3% of emissions, as supply and infrastructure hurdles cloud the outlook for cleaner alternatives methanol and ammonia. Global LNG bunkering volumes could surpass 4 million tons by end-2025 and double by 2030, said Jo Friedmann, senior vice president of supply chain research at Rystad Energy. TotalEnergies expects global LNG and bio-LNG bunker demand to surge to 15 million tons by 2030. Some 781 dual-fueled ships can now use LNG, according to ship certifier DNV (Høvik, Norway). (Reuters)
