Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Canadian Renewable Energy Corporation (Mississauga, Ontario), a wholly owned subsidiary of Canadian Hydro Developers Incorporated (Calgary, Alberta), has completed construction and commissioning for the $450 million 198-megawatt (MW) Wolfe Island Windfarm in Ontario.
Wolfe Island will be connected to the grid by way of a 34.5/230 kilovolt (kV) underground and overhead collector system located on-site. Six miles of both overhead power line and submarine cable were utilized to interconnect the facility to the existing Hydro One 230-kV Gardiner substation, which feeds renewable energy into the Ontario electricity market.
Canadian Projects Limited (Calgary, Alberta) provided engineering, procurement and construction services for the project. K.R. Wind Incorporated (Dallas, Texas) acted as the general contractor and performed the turbine installation for the facility.
