Centennial Nears Completion on Refined Products Pipeline Conversion in the US

The following is an advisory by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Inc., Houston, Texas). Centennial Pipeline LLC (Houston, Texas) is approaching completion of its Centennial Pipeline project. The $60+ million project entails installing 74 miles of new 24` pipeline from Beaumont, Texas to Longville, Louisiana and converting 720 miles of 26` pipeline from natural gas transmission to carry refined petroleum products from Longville, Louisiana to Burbon, Illinois. New pipeline facilities will include five new 3,000 horsepower pump stations and a two million barrel storage terminal in Lick Creek, Illinois. The petroleum terminal will be composed of sixteen new above ground storage tanks sited on 335 acres of land and will create 13 new jobs when completed.

The pipeline will cross portions of Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Kentucky and will intersect with Texas Eastern Products Pipeline Company LLC (TEPPCO) existing mainline in Southern Illinois. Originally constructed in 1957 and designed to carry natural gas as a part of the Trunkline Gas system, the pipeline will transport 200,000 barrels per day of gasoline, diesel and jet fuel when completed in the 4th quarter of 2001 from the Gulf Coast to the growing Midwest market which includes three of the top ten gasoline consuming states in the US.

Centennial Pipeline LLC is a joint venture between Marathon Ashland Petroleum LLC, Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line Company and Texas Eastern Products Pipeline Company.
