Chevron Chooses Worley Parsons to Provide Engineering Services for West Australian Assets

Researched by Industrial Info Resources Australia (Perth, Australia)--Chevron Australia Pty Limited (NYSE:CVX) (Perth, Australia) has awarded a lucrative contract to Worley Parsons Limited (ASX:WOR) (Sydney, Australia) for brownfield engineering services. The $52 billion Gorgon project will be online by the beginning of 2015, and the $29 billion Wheatstone project follow suit, with start-up anticipated for the middle of 2016.

The value of the contract has not been made available to the public; however, it is clearly of high value when the significant assets owned by Chevron Australia are considered. The contract will take effect in readiness of operations beginning at the Gorgon LNG production plant.

Worley Parsons announced the awarding of the contract earlier this week. The scope of work will comprise some or all of pre-commissioning engineering services, onsite engineering and shutdown engineering support. Worley Parsons also is expected to provide quality assurance services, including design verification and inspection. The term of the contract is five years, with extension options.
