Chile Plans Major Rail Investments for 2021-2027

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Following more than a year of problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Chile's Grupo EFE (Empresa de los Ferrocarriles del Estado) recently launched a plan to triple Chile's rail transportation capacity by 2027 through the development of new interurban lines, freight and infrastructure.

EFE aims to triple the number of annual passengers from 51.5 million to 151 million by 2027, in addition to doubling the tons of cargo. Its plan also promotes more sustainable and energy-efficient transportation.
