This is the first time the company has achieved this level.
In 2011, Shenhua Group's railway transportation turnover surpassed 320 million metric tons and the turnover of its Huanghua Port surpassed 100 million metric tons. In 2011, Shenhua Group's power output surpassed 200 billion kilowatt-hours, and its business income surpassed $44.5 billion, which achieved the objective of doubling its business income in five years, which was proposed in 2009 and was achieved two years ahead of schedule.
As the largest coal enterprise in China, Shenhua Group has 39 fully owned or controlling subsidiaries, including 58 coal mines; a total installed power generating capacity of 45 gigawatts (GW); 1,500 kilometers of railway; the 100-million-metric-ton Huanghua Port; the 45-million-metric-ton Tianjin Coal Port; a fleet totaling 1 million dead weight tons of transportation capacity; and other assets in direct coal liquefaction and the coal-based alkene demonstrative project. The coal output of Shendong Coal Group, one of the key subsidiaries of Shenhua Group, reached 219.05 million metric tons in 2011, ranking it the top coal producer in China. At the end of 2011, Shenhua Group's total assets reached $96.8 billion, and the total number of employees reached 210,000.
According to the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015) for the Shenhua Group, the company will build five large production bases by 2015, including the coal chemical demonstrative development in Inner Mongolia, the 10-million-metric-ton coal-to-oil base in Xinjiang, and the coal chemical and coal coking bases in Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia and Shanxi. By the end of 2015, Shenhua Group's coal output will reach 600 million metric tons, and its coal-based chemical products will reach 10 million metric tons. The group's port turnover will reach 200 million metric tons; the self-operated railway will reach 3,000 kilometers in length; installed power capacity will reach 70 GW; and the capacity of its fleet will reach 4 million dead weight tons.
