China's Daily Average Crude Steel Output Reaches Record High

Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--China's daily average output of crude steel reached a record 1.97 million metric tons in April 2011, according to the latest statistics published by the National Bureau of Statistics of China on May 12, 2011.

In April 2011, the output of crude steel reached 59.03 million metric tons, an increase of 7.1% year over year; and the accumulative output of crude steel from January to April 2011 reached 229.71 million metric tons, an increase of 8.3% year over year.

In April 2011, the output of pig iron reached 54.97 million metric tons, an increase of 7.7% year over year. The accumulative output of pig iron from January to April 2011 reached 214.27 million metric tons, an increase of 7.3% year over year.

In April 2011, the output of steel products reached 73.15 million metric tons, an increase of 8.3% year over year; and the accumulative output of steel products from January to April 2011 reached 280.67 million metric tons, an increase of 12.6% year over year.

Despite of the new record high in the output of crude steel in April 2011, both the export of steel products and the import of iron ore in China showed a drop compared with the previous month.

According to the latest statistics published by the General Customs Administration of China on May 10, 2011, China's steel export reached 4.77 million metric tons in April 2011, a drop of 140,000 metric tons compared with the export volume in March 2011, but an increase of 10.67% year over year. The accumulative export of steel products from January to April 2011 reached 15.28 million metric tons, an increase of 17.4% year over year. In April 2011, China's steel imports reached 1.37 million metric tons, a drop of 160,000 metric tons compared with the volume in March 2011 and a drop of 8.67% year over year. The accumulative import of steel products from January to April 2011 reached 5.55 million metric tons, a drop of 1% year over year.

In April 2011, China's iron ore import reached 52.88 million metric tons, a drop of 6.6 million metric tons compared with the volume in March 2011, and a drop of 4.43% year over year. The accumulative import of iron ore from January to April 2011 reached 230.02 million metric tons, an increase of 9.5% year over year. The average import price reached $157.6 per ton, increase of 53.9% year over year.
