China's Investment in Fixed Assets Up 19.6% in 2013

The real growth rate was 19.2%, after deducting pricing factors.
In 2013, the investment in China's primary industry, which consists of agriculture, forestry and fishing, was $149.05 billion, up 32.5% from 2012. Investment in the secondary industry, which includes mining, manufacturing, energy and construction, was $2.98 trillion, up 17.4% from 2012, and investment in the tertiary industry, which includes all other fields, was $3.9 trillion, up 21%.
In the secondary industry, investment in the mining industry reached $237.91 billion, up 10.9%; investment in the manufacturing industry reached $2.38 trillion, up 18.5%; and investment in the production and supply of electric power, heat power, gas and water reached $318.46 billion, up 18.4%.
Investments in China's eastern region in 2013 totaled $3.23 trillion, a 17.9% increase from 2012. The eastern region includes Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Shandong, Guangdong and Hainan.
Investments in the central region totaled $2 trillion, a 22.8% surge from 2012. The central region includes Shanxi, Anhui, Jiangxi, Henan, Hubei and Hunan.
Investments in the western region totaled $1.71 trillion, a 23% increase from 2012. The western region includes Inner Mongolia, Guangxi, Chongqing, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Tibet, Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia and Xinjiang.
In regards to registration, investments in domestic enterprises were reported to total $6.66 trillion, up 20.5% from 2012; specifically, investments from entities in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan totaled $177.39 billion, up 7%. Investment from foreign entities totaled $177.73 billion, up 4.5%.
An analysis of active projects shows that the total planned investment in projects that were already under construction at the beginning of 2013 reached $13.95 trillion, up 16.2% from 2012. The total planned investment in projects that started during the year was $5.77 trillion, up 14.2%.
In 2013, $7.75 trillion had been invested in paid-in funds, a 20.1% increase from 2012. "Paid-in funds" refers to all funds received by investment units used for fixed assets. The growth in government budgetary funds increased 17%; investment in domestic loans increased 14.4%; investment in self-raising funds increased 20.8%; foreign investments decreased 3.7%; and other investments increased 25.3%.
For the month of December 2013, the investment in fixed assets (excluding rural households) increased 1.41% over that of November.
