Researched by Industrial Info Resources Australia (Sugar Land, Texas)--Joint venture partners Clough Niugini, a subsidiary of Clough Limited (Perth, Australia), and Curtain Brothers Papua New Guinea Limited (Townsville, Australia) were awarded a $75 million work order this week on the Papua New Guinea LNG (PNG LNG) project, as part of almost $1 billion of total contract value for the PNG LNG upstream infrastructure.
The upstream infrastructure contract was awarded to Clough Curtin JV on May 1, 2009, and the joint venture won the early works contract in June 2009. The full scope of work for the joint venture has incorporated camp construction; road and bridge upgrades, along with wharf and laydown area development; and other critical infrastructure as part of the early works. The upstream infrastructure development for the Clough Curtain JV incorporates construction in varying locations from the river port area of Kopi to the Hides Conditioning plant in the Southern Highlands.
The total contract value for the joint venture was initially expected to be about $650 million. This recent work order, along with a $145 million work order issued in January 2012 and the early work performed by the team, brings the total value to $989 million.
The $19 billion PNG LNG project, which is operated by ExxonMobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM) (Irving, Texas), will produce 6.9 million metric tons per year. The first gas is scheduled for 2014.
