Cogentrix Incorporated (Charlotte, N.C.), a leading private energy producer (PEP) is in the final stages of commissioning the Green Country Energy Station in Bixby, Oklahoma. Construction of the 810 mega-watt plant started in April 2000. The prime contractor for the project is NEPCO (National Energy Production Corporation) (Bothell, Wash.), a wholly owned subsidiary of Enron Corporation (Houston, Texas).
The Green Country Energy station is a natural gas-fired combined-cycle generating plant and will receive fuel from Transok LLC (Tulsa Oklahoma). The plant is utilizing three (3) General Electric (GE) combustion turbine/generator sets, with three (3) Aalborg heat recovery steam generators powering one (1) GE steam turbine/generator. The plant is scheduled to start commercial operation with tie-ins to AEP- Public Service of Oklahoma next week. Cogentrix was established in 1983 and develops, owns and operates electric generation plants primarily in the U.S.
