Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources Inc; Houston, Texas) has confirmed that ConAgra Foods Incorporated (NYSE: CAG) (Omaha, Neb.) is in the final planning stages to construct three new distribution warehouses in Florida, Tennessee, and Texas.
Back in September, Industrialinfo.com reported that construction had begun on a new distribution facility in Lebanon, Indiana. Since then, plans have been confirmed for the construction of three additional distribution facilities taking the total to four. A Design-Build Contractor has also been identified for the projects as well.
The new distribution facilities will be for storage of dry goods and are in the range of 450,000 to 500,000 square feet in size and will cost roughly $20 million each to construct. All projects are expected to be under construction during the 4th quarter of 2001 and completion is scheduled by the fall of 2002.
The properties have been identified in Saint Augustine, Florida, Knoxville, Tennessee and Fort Worth, Texas. Each will contain office areas, shipping & receiving docks for tractor-trailer loading, and material handling and automated control systems to keep track of the massive inventory to be stored at each site.
ConAgra Food Products is North America's No. 1 foodservice supplier and No. 2 supplier to grocery stores. Last year it recorded over $27 billion in sales with its 33 major brands and value-added products.
