Construction of Jinan Waste-to-Energy Project begins in Jiyang, Shandong Province

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The cornerstone-laying ceremony for Jinan Urban Waste-to-Energy Power Generation Project was held recently in Jiyang County, Shandong province, the local Jinan Daily reported on August 5.

Jinan Urban Waste-to-Energy Power Generation Project occupies an area of 7.99 hectares at the south of Gaojiacun Village in Sungeng Town of Jiyang County. The project will be furnished with four waste-processing lines, each of 500 tons per day. With the adoption of a mechanical grate furnace, the project will be able to process about 667,000 metric tons of urban waste every year, equivalent to about 90% of the garbage presently produced in the city, and generate about 250 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity every year. Total investment in the project will be about $131 million.

According to the plan, the project will be built and operated by Everbright Environmental Energy (Jinan) Company Limited (Everbright Jinan). The Urban Environment and Health Administration of Jinan City will supervise the project.

Construction of 89,900 square meters of structures, including the main powerhouse, production administration building and liquid processing center, is scheduled to be completed by the end of next year. The project is intended to introduce advanced and proven equipment from abroad, and its flue-gas emission will be satisfactory with Euro-I standards. Upon completion, the project will become one of the largest urban waste-to-energy projects in China.

Everbright Jinan is a subsidiary of China Everbright International Limited (Hong Kong) (HK: 0257) with a registered capital of $75.37 million, mainly engaged in urban waste processing, power sales, and the research and development of waste-processing technology. In addition to the Waste-to-Energy Project, Everbright Jinan also operates three water-processing plants in the mode of build-operation-transfer, together with another water-processing plant under construction in Jinan.
