Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Suwannee River Power Plant, which is located in Live Oak, Florida, was taken offline after one of its six generating units underwent a forced outage. The plant is owned by Duke Energy (NYSE:DUK) (Charlotte, North Carolina).
The 75-megawatt (MW), fuel-oil fired Unit 3 was taken offline earlier this month due to a bushing failure on the transformer. Plant personnel said that a new transformer is being installed due to damage suffered during the forced outage. The unit is expected to return to service at the end of January.
The Suwannee plant comprises three steam turbines and three simple-cycle combustion turbines. It has a total capacity of 330 MW.
